StraightLine
Rails is the brainchild of Dave "Hooter" Van
Houten,
one of the east coast's foremost terrain park designers. Dave
has been involved in terrain park design, construction, and maintenance
since 1993. Prior to managing terrain parks Dave’s snow
resort operations experience includes snowmaking, grooming, and
lift operation. In 1999 Dave started SnowPark
Management,
a consulting business that brought Dave’s snow park
and halfpipe expertise to resorts throughout eastern North America
and portions
of South
America.
StraighLine Rails was launched in 2001 to meet
the evolving demands of terrain park snowboarders and
skiers. SLR quickly filled the growing need
for well designed and well constructed jib features, such as
rails and
boxes, that were fun to ride,
safe,
and easy to manage. Dave’s
extensive snowboarding and mountain operations experience gave
him unique insight into building jib features that would keep
both riders and mountain managers happy. SLR continues
to evolve and has developed a refined product that is unmatched
in quality and design. Over 300 SLR terrain
park features can be found at snow resorts across the
country.
With true Vermont ingenuity StraighLine
Rails can
build just about anything, and welcomes custom
projects of practically
any size.
SLR works with a variety of materials and
construction techniques including welded steel, sheet aluminum,
various poly materials,
and even wood and logs. SLR has
developed and fabricated many of their own specialized tools
- including
precision
pipe bending equipment. SLR does
everything in-house with no outside contracting, which saves
you money.
In 2009 StraighLine Rails launched a Residential line
of jib features for home or club use.
